Spiders, Spiders and more Spiders

 

We made spiders for snack! The kids loved making these, we had spider legs (pretzels), tummy (crackers) and spider paste (peanut butter) followed up by some spider blood (juice!) 

This was a suggested cooking activity in Funshine and it made for a extra yummy breakfast!

 We've been busy blowing and sucking up leaves with the play vacuum cleaner! 

 5 Little Pumpkins, I love doing this one with them every year!

To make our mummies, I thought we could tear the tape and it would be great for fine motor, well we ended up using a scissors and cutting!

Painting our ghost! I took a white washcloth and froze it (with water) over a cup. Then we painted with liquid water color, although I think if I would do this again, I would dillute the liquid watercolor

We were supposed to make a tangram puzzle, however, we used it to practice our cutting skills. 

Playing our math game from Funshine, Catch a Fly

This was such a simple activity, yet the kids loved it. Again, from Funshine, they each had a small bar of soap and were to make their own spiderwebs. 

Since spider webs are sticky and catch flys, I took a piece of contact paper and taped it sticky side up, so we could catch flies (they would throw cotton balls)

We played a game that Funshine recommended, of hide the spider. They had a blast playing this!

Here's our adorable 3D pumpkin, again, from Funshine. These turned out so cute and were simple to make... Even so cute that one of the school kids came after school and wanted to make one! 

Letter F; Spiders!

Busy working on letter F this week... I loved the dot idea I came across to help them write the letter F.

Our Funshine project this week was to lace around the plate to make a spider web and then add a spider ring to finish it off! I thought they could grasp the concept of this a little better than what they did, but it proved to be a little hard for them, I guess we will need to work on lacing a little more:)

  

Something that I love about Funshine is the extra worksheets you can print off from the website for extra's. They are great fillers for when we need a little something else to work on!

We took a golf ball instead of a marble (as suggested by Funshine) and they had fun shaking the box every which way to make our spider webs

Letter E

Here's our E we made... we decided E is an easy letter, one line down and 3 lines across!

We played our Community Helper game from Funshine, we had to match up the hats to the picture

We used Funshine's fall felt set today. 

One stuffed scarecrow in the corn rows. On the first day he said, "Go away crows!" 

On the second day he said, "On my head I wear a hat."

On the third day he said, "By my feet sits a cat."

On the fourth day he said, "I see a tractor with a plow."

On the fifth day he said, "Time to go now."

We pounded golf tees into a pumpkin... they loved it!

Ghosts, Chefs, 4, D, Clowns

A little Halloween fun! Found this freebie from Laura @TPT

Aren't these little chef's adorable?!! We made chef hats from Funshine and then of course, had to make cookies to go with our hats... yummy! The hats were super simple to make and I will have to remember for the next time we do a chef theme, we took paper and stapled it to fit their heads; then took a piece of tissue paper and made it into a mushroom shape and then stapled it to the hat. Of course, after stapeling, I took tape and covered up the staples on the inside. 

Here was our clown bibs from Funshine... they had a blast using the pippets filled with liquid water color. (If you haven't used liquid water color yet, your missing out! It's awesome and you can do tons of things with it, I especially love using it to color playdough or items for the sensory table!)

For letter Dd, we made donuts with sprinkles (which was the best part!) and also worked in our Funshine journals. 

We did try on various types of hats, as was suggested in Funshine and acted out what we would do with each hat on. 

Number 4 in our Funshine Journal from last week. I choose to have them glue on 4 orange triangles. (color and shape we are on!)

Fire Prevention

We took a trip to the Fire Station last week and seen how the firemen looked with all their gear on, got to climb in the firetrucks and even try on the coat and pants! I think their favorite part was climbing in the trucks:)

 

I set this up last week for dramatic play, they had tons of fun with it!

Our fire trucks from Funshine; who knew you could make a fire truck with just a rectangle shape and then cut the back off for the ladders, which we used a paper straw for. 

We even practiced having a fire drill! 

Hats!

As suggested in Funsine, we explored the different textures as part of science. Were they smooth, rough, hard, pokey, scratchy, soft, etc... Then we also played a gross motor game that Funshine suggested where we had to throw bean bags into the hats. 

We went on an orange hunt! 

Worked a little bit in our Funshine journals... I just love this one, we've been working on writing the first letters of our names. Here, she wrote a T without even being asked to write one!

We also made jester hats from Funshine, pretty easy, we cut a piece of paper in a zigzag shape and then colored them, stapled to the correct size and then they added their dot stickers. 

It was time to break out the Halloween projects! We made these adorable stained glass witches that I found here. 

End of Apples

We ended our Apples theme and first month with Funshine Express. I will say that overall, I think we did way more than what we would have done if I would have planned things on my own! Love the songs, extra worksheets that can be printed online, extra activities, etc... Looking forward to October's themes! 

For fine motor skills, I made some trees and laminated them, then we used red playdough to make our apples
