Wednesday, Sept. 29

Today we learned the number 1 song & put 1 of many different things on our paper. It's short & very simple to remember...

Number 1, number 1,
You are long and straight and tall.
Number 1, number 1,
You're always first of all.

The weather was beautiful outside, the leaves were falling on the kids when we enjoyed our time out this morning. They thought it was so neat that the leaves were falling down on them.

Tomorrow morning, we will be going to the library. Please leave a car seat for your child. We will return by 11:00 so we are back in time for the bus.

Breakfast: bagels, banana
Lunch: tacos, apples
Snack: grapes, cheese

The Little Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid of Anything

Today we read the story, "The Little Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid Of Anything" We had to read it a few times before the kids caught on to the actions, "clomp clomp" "wiggle wiggle" "shake shake" "clap clap" "nod nod" "boo boo". Then for our art activity today we colored & cut out the pieces so they could create their own scarecrow behind the door that says, "Knock Knock!"

Here's a funny for today: We were eating tator tot hotdish for lunch and one of the kids says, Nicci I ate all my teeter tot hotdish, can I please have some more grapes? I loved it!
Breakfast: waffles, banana
Lunch: tator tot hotdish, grapes, bread
Snack: caramel rolls
Raking those leaves!

Marvelous Monday!

The sun is shining... today has been a great day! This morning most of the kids read books as I brought out some Halloween books over the weekend. It really amazes me as to how many of them could sit and read for hours on end! Which is a great thing!  We did the Very Hungry Caterpillar & the 5 Little Pumpkins for our flannel board story today. Thanks Sandra for letting me borrow the Very Hungry Caterpillar... I will definitely be making a copy of that!

We worked on same & different this morning as well as reviewed our letters A-E and practiced our counting without realizing that's what we were doing (Clap 5 times, 8 jumping jacks, etc...)

Breakfast: cereal, banana
Lunch: meatballs, mashed potatoes, apple, bread
Snack: goldfish crackers

The kids has a blast playing in the sandbox this morning:

We made eagles this morning, they turned out adorable! We also sponge painted leaves, which will need to dry so we will send them home tomorrow. Monday, Sept. 20

Alexis' messy face! Not so sure she liked her carrots today!

The kids must have all had busy & exciting weekends as they were all tired today!

We reviewed our letters A-D today and made a cute little scarecrow. The bigger kids worked on writing their name, while the little ones colored. We enjoyed playing outside this morning, even though the wind was chilly! If you hear any mention about the baby horse, Wanda finally put it in the pen with the other horses. The big horses are still picking on poor Annie (they nip at her back). The kids told the big horses, that they weren't going to get their treat today since they weren't being very nice!

Breakfast: cereal, banana
Lunch: beef roast, mashed pototoes, corn, bread
Snack: graham crackers & frosting

Jumping !

Friday

Gotta play catch up from Friday! The school kids had off on Friday, so they helped decorate the toy room for Halloween. I'm sure in a month, I will be ready for the decorations to be down! But they had fun and thought that they were doing something important and it also kept them busy figuring out the best spots to put everything.

I kinda chuckled to myself, the little kids and I were reviewing our letters by singing our songs and I almost think the big kids had just as much fun singing the letter songs as the little kids did. I had the big kids each pair up with a little one to help them do stick their dots on their paper...

Breakfast: donuts, grapes
Lunch: corn dogs, french fries, apples
Snack: yummy bars

Wednesday's Update!

Oops... Forgot to do yesterday's update! The school kids were home early from CPT so I guess that the whole afternoon was crazy! Since it rained all morning, we kept busy doing projects... Thanks to Brianna for bringing back letter D things!
We worked on those cutting skills... if your child didn't bring their dinosaur home, it's probably because there wasn't one left when they were done cutting!

Brianna's letter D things!

Garrett, JJ & Dawson worked hard on this ABC puzzle!
The school girls wanted to dress Alexis up in doll clothes, so her she is in what they thought was fashion!

Holmberg Orchard

We had a blast today at Holmberg Orchard. This must be one of my favorite field trips to take with the kids. Just being out at the orchard, just makes you love fall! We went on a long hayride (it was too muddy to go to the pumpkin patch) and saw their trees, counted the owls, and got to see the big cooler they store the apples in as well as see how they get washed. But, I'm going to guess that the kid's favorite thing to do was play in the corn boat and in the hay. Here are some pictures!

Breakfast: poptart, banana
Lunch: chili, crackers, grapes
Snack: apples

Fairy Houses...

Monday afternoon I had the kids start building fairy houses. First, we had to take a walk around the farm to come up with some materials. Here they are busily working away....

It's a Monday today!

Eeyore, oh Eeyore come out!
We sang Dr. Jean's Monday song today and it's stuck in my head!

When you're glad it's Monday, stomp your feet.
When you're glad it's Monday, stomp your feet.
Let's spell Monday. It's Marvelous Monday.
M-O-N-D-A-Y.

We also worked on the letter D today and made a Dragon and enjoyed a donut for snack this morning! For some reason, the letter D song isn't as catchy as the other ones.

The D Song:
("Do Lord")
I've got a great big tummy like a capital D. D!

The weather is beautiful today! I was able to get the rest of the swing set  stained over the weekend and you would have thought that it was brand new... It's amazing when they haven't had a chance to play on/with something for a day or two how nice they can actually play!

Breakfast: cereal, banana
Lunch: turkey, mashed potatoes, peas, stuffing
Snack: salami, cheese and crackers

REMINDER: We are going to Holmberg Orchard tomorrow morning. We will leave about 8:45 and return around 11. Please remember to leave your child's car seat. Thanks!

Happy Birthday Kylie!

Happy 8th Birthday Miss. Kylie! I had fun looking back at pictures of her thru the years! Why, do they have to grow up so fast? We had brownies for snack today that the big kids deemed we should have them for every birthday...

Rainy Friday, Sept. 8th

Rain, Rain... oh how we would like you to go away! We made a cactus today and were awfully busy playing with our farmers market that we set up. As long as the little kids remember not to "bite" our food we will still have items to sell and purchase!! But, they sure do look nummy & real...

Breakfast: donuts, banana
Lunch: chicken fries, french fries, frozen peas (favorite!)
Snack: brownies

Here you will see the kids dumping the water from the rain while we went out this morning. Wanda stopped over this afternoon and next thing you know she had 4 kids on her lap and a ton of books to read.

Rainy Thursday!

Good ol' fashion playing!

Rain, rain go away! We want to go out and play! We were stuck inside today... It sure brings light of what this winter will be like! We also practiced tracing our names and followed the lines for the mice get to the clocks (practiced those pre-writing skills). Thursday, Sept. 2nd

It's almost Friday! Today, the kids asked if we could "clean", which meant use baby wipes and wipe our toys. Which led to putting away toys in the playroom, we're going with the "less is more" approach in there! Seemed to work good this morning! We switched our toys around too! Oh, how it seems like they are all new again!

We practiced our letter b's again today and the rain put a damper on playing outside this morning, so we came back in and danced to get rid of some extra energy!

Breakfast: pancakes, grapes
Lunch: italian dunkers, watermelon, grapes
Snack: cereal
